Best Fishing Knots

The knot we use for each connection in our line is one of the few factors involved with catching a fish of a lifetime that we have 100% control over.

So it’s on us to make sure we’re using the absolute best knot based on the connection type of lines used.

All fishing knots are NOT created equal, so strength testing is needed to determine the winners vs. the losers.

Here’s the latest list of the knots that we’ve tested so far for the various line types and connection needs:

Conservation

Our fisheries are something that we have to do our part in protecting. And that, of course, involves proper handling of our fish that are going to be released.

Here are two very helpful post that describes the best ways to protect and handle fish:

The law in FL about not taking tarpon out of the water only applies to tarpon over 40 inches (http://myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/tarpon/faqs/)

Joe a lot of great videos and tip, Just wondering what the more experienced anglers may have found out or think ? l,ve started flatting some of my barbs , on a few of my hooks and lures to determine the difference in over all hook ups .Thank you once again .

James, I’ve been flattening the barb on most of my trout flies for 40+ years. Since I’ve started inshore fishing a few years ago, I’ve been flattening most of those big barbs on the hooks as well. I don’t see an appreciable difference in my ability to land a fish, and it is certainly easier on the fish when you want to remove the hook.
