We’ve got a fun one for you today!
I recently went to go visit my old fishing buddy Nic who lives on the island of Kauai in Hawaii now.
We went out fishing for wahoo, marlin, and tuna. And we captured some amazing fish-catching footage as well as some incredible boating and scenery shots…
Especially when we came across an 8 ft long giant squid!
This was hands-down the most beautiful place I’ve ever been, much less fished.

What an amazing trip!
We were so lucky to have run into that giant squid…
It must have just recently died because it looked like it was hardly touched at all.
I can’t recommend going to Hawaii enough, and I can’t wait to go back.

There wasn’t much fishing involved, but we did catch a monster trumpet fish and I captured some incredible footage of us taking Nic’s boat into some amazing caves.

Wow man I hope you guys were legal and had all the essential life preservers on that small boat man that boat to me looked to small to be ocean fishing but if i guess you were not that far from land tgen it would be no big deal but anyways i never fished in the ocean in all the 9 years i was stationed in the navy there on Oahu Hawaii pearl harbor in my 20 year carreer but I have been to Kauai several times just being a tourist because my ex-wife used to be a tour consultant that got tickets to fly there very cheap but of coarse that was in the 80s couldn’t begin to tell you how much a flight was now but on Oahu there is a freshwater lake that has peacock bass largemouth and some big Oscars that I fished for on a John boat that believe it or not I got for a wedding gift from my parents I bought a trolling motor and fish finder for it and dished the he’ll out of that lake second biggest bass I ever caught there 10lb largemouth trolling a bill Norman dd-22 deep diving chartreuse crankbait in about 15 ft of water hit like a freight train great vid guys thanks ????
There were much smaller boats out there too… had to be small enough to launch at that skinny ramp. Plus, those guys are fearless as the waves were tiny that trip compared to normal. How cool to see that you caught some great bass over there!
Aloha! Man, you have to realize your talking about an island of wayfarers. We take small boats everywhere. I’ve seen 14′ Livingston’s 10 plus miles out. I personally have a 22 1/2′ Hawaiian Hawk and have no problem taking her the 25 plus miles to Ni’ihau waters. It’s all about knowing your conditions and respecting the sea. The vast majority of fishing on Kauai is by local fisherman supporting their family’s. They can’t afford high dollar, large boats. Nor do they want them. The average boat here is in the 16′ to 26′ range from what I’ve seen and we use those boats to their full potential. Kauai; Where you can fish and ride a roller coaster all at the same time! *Laughing*
FYI…..Fishing out of the West side, Kikiaola small boat harbor.
I would love to see the footage. I went to Hawaii two years ago, debated between Kauai and Maui. The wife won and we went to Maui. It’s absolutely beautiful out there. I went on a party boat and did some trolling and bottom fishing. Not much action but the scenery can’t be beat. Everyone should take a trip out there if they can.

My wife and I had the pleasure of going to Hawaii a few years ago. It’s by far the most magical place I’ve ever been. We even got to see where the T-Rex and Gallamimus scene was filmed. We actually zip lined in that same valley. We didn’t go fishing but we did go scuba diving. Like you said, I can’t recommend a trip to Hawaii enough. It’s a must!!
