Find Feeding Fish When Bait Is Everywhere
This time of the year, mullet vary in size and can sometimes be a bit too large to throw on a hook live.
Instead, cut-bait and chunking mullet you’ve caught will work best.
To successfully catch mullet, you need a cast net.
Set the cast net up as you normally would and have it ready to go before you try and sneak up on schools of mullet.
Once you have the mullet you need, you can go ahead and set them aside to cut up or cast whole depending on how you are fishing.
On the other hand, you can switch to something artificial in an effort to stand alone from all of the mullet around.

The underspin creates additional attraction and further causes the lure to stand out amongst the schools of mullet.
All you’ve got to do to retrieve this lure is slowly roll it along the bottom and wait for a strike.

I havent run into this situation this year but in the past I have I remember a time back in 2011 when the mullet were so thick that they were jumping into my kayak they leaped out of the water so high that some even jumped over me and everyone in that area for several months had trouble catching fish because they were so numerous I have a few of those trout magic spinners on hand and have used them on several occasions with minimum luck but I do use spinnerbaits alot for reds and flounder I think the reason being I don’t use the trout magic ones is because the blade is so small and its silver where as I usually use gold or copper Colorado blades with more thump and vibration and usually if I cant seem to get the reds to hit with them I can usually find and catch a flounder or more with them instead thanks for the info and all you do😉👍
