1 + 2. New Rod & Reel
This is low-hanging fruit but every angler can always use another rod or reel.
Each rod is just a little bit different which is perfect for the angler but can be challenging for others selecting the rod to gift.
To make it easier on you, we put everything you would need into the Ultimate Inshore Fishing Combo.
This includes a new rod, a new reel, braided line, and bonus leader line, plus split-ring scissors.
Pretty much everything you need besides a hook and lure.
3. Fishing Boots/Shoes
I have been searching for a pair of fishing shoes for myself and to be completely honest, I want something on the cheaper side.
But I settled on the Huk High Tide boots.
The biggest thing with fishing shoes is that they keep your feet dry.
Yes, other shoes can dry out over the course of the day after getting wet, but your feet won’t.
Instead of worrying about how your feet feel, you can concentrate on fishing.

4. Rain Gear
Rain is one of the best ways to ruin a day of fishing.
You just feel wet and uncomfortable down to your bones, and can be dangerous in some situations.
Not only that, but it cuts your trip short.
If you have some protective rain gear on, then you could try and stick out the storm to catch more fish.
Of course, that is if there is no thunder or lightning in the area.
5. Fish Landing Net
I recommend the Ego S1 Guide Series landing nets.
We came across these nets when trying to find something that wouldn’t damage the fish when trying to land it.
The mesh on my previous net was rubber-coated but the holes were too large so the fish’s fins appeared slightly ragged from the net.
The Ego nets are of a finer mesh and also are rubber-coated to maintain the fish’s protective outer coating.
Another cool feature of this net is you can unzip the net if the mesh happens to tear or rip.
You can replace it with a new net just by zipping it on.

6. Pliers
Pliers are absolutely invaluable to inshore saltwater anglers.
I always bought cheap pairs of pliers and would go through them more often than I should have.
So I finally went ahead and bought a nicer pair just over a year ago.
I really beat up my gear and personally torture-tested these pliers without any issues so far.
If you tend to be tougher on your gear, then it could be in your favor to get a nicer, higher quality pair of pliers.
Danco creates some of the best pliers for anglers that are durable and withstand the elements.

7. Shallow Anchor Pin
Anchor Pins are placed in the ground behind your kayak or boat to keep it from drifting around.
The lengths of the pins range from 5 feet all the way up to 10 feet.
When you’re fishing inshore, any additional noise or unnatural visuals can spook fish out of an entire area.
Anchor Pins are the best way to anchor up without making lots of noise like dropping an anchor would.
If you know of a kayak angler or someone with a small vessel, this is an ideal gift for them.
The Anchor Pin I have is from Stick-It and I’ve been using it steadily for about 5 years now without any issues.

8. C-Tug Kayak Cart
This is ideal for any kayak angler and will make your life a whole lot easier.
I’ve been using mine for the last 5 years and if it were to break on me, I’d get the same one again.
Moreover, it can be packed up and stored in your kayak while you’re fishing.
As a matter of fact, my wife got this as a gift for me and I’ve loved using it ever since.
9. Fishing Lures
Every fisherman has fishing lures and needs more lures!
But it can be hard trying to find lures for someone else if you don’t know what to look for.
We made this easy for you.
Everything you would need for inshore saltwater fishing and even freshwater bass fishing too is in the Ultimate Inshore Tackle Bundle.
It’s got soft plastic lures, hard-body lures, spoons, rigging hooks, scents – everything you would ever need!!!
10. Dri-Tech Fishing Shirts
These shirts not only protect you from the sun, but they also extend your fishing time.
You can withstand the elements a bit longer than if you were to wear the old cotton shirts.
Also, these shirts allow the breeze through to keep you cooler in the heat of the sun.
We’ve got shirts with and without hoods as well as neck gaiters to cover up!
Conclusion
We can ALWAYS use more gear as anglers!
But sometimes our loved ones have a hard time understanding some of the fishing terms and phrases.
Not to worry, we’ve got you covered!!!

Great ideas Pat. What is the largest or what do you think would be the largest fish that you could land with that net? Thanks
It’s handled reds over 30 inches but I think the limit might be around 35 without too much stress on it. Ego makes a ton of nets, if you need one bigger just go on their website and check them out.
Ok. Thank you.
Great suggestions
Thanks Gary!
Nice Pat! Awesome stuff! Another couple of cool ones would be a water-resistant headlamp for just in case if you have to stay out past sunset for whatever reason, and an external battery pack for your phone. That way if your fish finder map fails, and your phone is about to die, you still have a way of getting home in the thick marsh! I never go out without those 2 things.
Those are some great suggestions! Inexpensive gifts that can be stocking stuffers too!
Thanks Pat. I use the C-Tug and love it. Works excellent and doesn’t weigh a lot.
Thanks for watching Todd!
I love my C Tug! One of the best accessories I have for the kayak.
Great Stuff Pat!
Thanks Mark!!
I was wondering about those fishing shoes. When launching the kayak doesn’t water get into those boots and stay in there?
I make sure to not go that deep in the water, if you go too deep then yes, they fill up with water.
Great gift ideas here Pat! Definitely going to pick up one or two of these for myself this holiday season hahah.
Thanks Cameron! Why not!
I’m suprised you didn’t mention the Salt Strong Gift Card !
Good point Mark! They make great gifts too!
does your fishing tips work for the Pensacola area????.
Hey Richard, Check out the weekend game plans and reginal points you can click on and you can really nail it down to specific areas. You can always ask a coach or just email saltstrong.com with a question too. Tight lines.
Which shoes did you have on in your ‘Leaving fish, to find fish report?’ (You may have to have a quick look at your video.)
Those are some Columbia slip on style, I forget the name. Never was a fan of them, they stayed wet too long for my taste.
