On-The-Water Action
We started off fishing a falling tide with the plan to fish the entire cycle including some of the incoming tide.
The late start actually helped us wait for the water to warm up a bit more giving us a slight advantage.
At the ramp, we noticed how clear the water was which made us think the Alabama Leprechaun would be the ticket.
And right away Courtney hooked into a solid trout on the Leprechaun.
I personally started with my confidence bait which is the F.R.E.D. 2.0 paddletail rigged on a jighead.
On this day, I had the F.R.E.D. rigged on a 1/8 oz. Hoss Football Jighead.
Additionally, the rod and reel pairing I used was the Cashion Element Inshore matched with the 13 Fishing AL13 Spinning Reel.
Later on, we pushed further into skinny water with some tall grass.
Some nearby oyster bars made us think this would be a redfish spot.
Lo and behold, I hooked into a solid redfish a few casts later.
The oyster bars, big rocks, and dark, hard bottom retain heat providing the best place for these fish to hold.
Moreover, the exposed oyster beds and rocks laying out in the sun are heating up.
So when the tide fills back in, those warm rocks and oysters will maintain stable temperatures for these fish.
We definitely found ourselves smack in the middle of the 90/10 Zone!
Redfish after redfish ranging in all sorts of size simply could not get enough of the F.R.E.D. paddletail.

We had a blast! Thanks Pat!
Great post Matt! You guys give me hope! Gonna try this weekend God willin and the Creeks don’t rise. It seems like we’re in a strange pattern in the Big Bend of cold snaps vs warm snaps with rough fronts. Gotta make the pattern jive with work schedule.
Thanks for watching Joe! Glad that you enjoyed it!
