When winter hits, DON’T overthink and load up on lures you’ll never use.
It comes down to a small set of proven lures that consistently produce from Texas to Florida and much of the Atlantic coast.
So we took the guesswork out and put together the four lures you’ll rely on all winter.
Each one has a clear role and makes choosing the right bait simple, no matter the conditions.

Here’s what I cover inside the video:
• Why winter fish feed differently and how to adjust
• When to use a suspending plug like the Flea Flicker
• Why smaller shrimp profiles outperform bigger baits in cold water
• How to rig weedless so you can fish tight to structure without snagging
• When a compact baitfish profile (like the Polk County Tweaker) outperforms everything
And if you want the easiest way to put all of these winter-proven lures in one place without overspending, the NEW Winter Bundle includes every lure and rigging option shown in the video. It’s built around the exact setup I use to consistently catch redfish, trout, snook, and flounder all winter long.
Final Thoughts
Winter fishing doesn’t have to be complicated. Match your lure to the conditions, slow down your presentation, and keep things simple. These four lures cover nearly every situation you’ll face from now through early spring, and they’re the same ones I rely on every winter. If you want to try them without guessing, check out the NEW Winter Bundle while it’s still available.

Thanks a TON Luke, I’m a sponge for this stuff. Just the prescription I needed. Less can be more indeed.
Our pleasure Matt. I hope you have a great time out on the water this winter.
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for. Now to just find the fish.
I agree with almost all you covered in this video. However in my area around Hilton Head SC I would add 1 more lure, SKINNY LIPPER. In the right areas, less than 3’ I fished it like a dying minnow on the surface barely twitching the bait I caught lots of big Redfish.
Thanks for sharing your additional lure that you like for the winter. I am a big fan of that lure for winter fishing as well.
Well I got news for you me being a life member since 2018 and a regular member before that in 2017 i have already bought all these lures in ALL the colors you have including the flea flicker and as far as those lures although I do own the poulk county tweeker soft plastic stickbait I never really do alot on them maybe its because I believe the water is to murky to fish these lures very successfully where as where you fish on t he gulf coast the water is mostly clear all year long because I know these lures don’t make alot of noise and to me would be hard for the fish in my area to find also in my opinion the power prawn in reality doesn’t look like a shrimp that much because a shrimps tail is not fanned out like a human hand is when fully all one’s fingers are extended but I will admit it does have action like a shrimp when retrieved properly and i have caught fish on them and that in my opinion is most important because fish don’t really care about true likeness in looks only in the action the lure delivers and if its like the real thing they will hit it kinda like my safety pin style spinnerbait I use alot in the warmer months really doesn’t resemble anything in the food chain of predatory fish that I have seen but its the action that drives them crazy but like any lure only during certain times of the year anyways you get my meaning thanks for the info and all you do
Thanks for sharing your findings Steven
I have so appreciated your content over the years! But, in this case, IMHO, your failure to include the gold spoon is a missed opportunity for your followers. I fish Charlotte Harbor a lot all winter, and no artificial has produced more snook, reds, and juvy tarpon for myself and the guys I know in Bokeelia, Matlacha, and St. James City than the 1/4 oz or 1/8 oz Johnson gold spoon… the others you mentioned aren’t even close to the spoon in production, and I’ve fished all of those. It seems as tho the colder the water temps, even sub-60′, the spoon is effective…I know a 1/8 oz seems like an awfully small profile, but I’ve hooked many 40+” inch tarpon and over-slot snook on that lil’ bugger… Keep on Keepn On!
Thanks for sharing your findings David! I normally move towards weedless spoons more in the spring. I have not yet even tried the 1/8 oz size yet, so I’ll be sure to pick some up to test them out.
