Owner Twistlock Hook Vs. Texas Eye Jig Head (Which One Is Best)
We get a ton of questions about which weedless hooks are the best to use.
And our go-to weedless hooks are the Owner Weighted Twistlock Hooks and the Texas Eye Jig Heads.
But one is better than the other in certain applications.
So in this video, you’ll learn which situations are best for the Owner Twistlock Hook and the Texas Eye Jighead.

Here are the two main weighted hooks we recommend:
Your retrieve will determine which one to use.
And the spot you are fishing in and what you are targeting will determine your retrieve.
When To Use The Owner Twistlock Hook
The Owner Twistlock Hook is more suited for a constant retrieve because of where the weight is situated.
It provides a good overall action but doesn’t have a quick change in depth which is nice for shallower water.
They work great if you’re doing a low and slow retrieve for redfish.
Or if you you want to work a little higher in the water column for trout or snook at a faster pace.
Also, you can adjust your weight on the Owner Twistlock Hooks and that’s going to change how your lure falls or suspends while in the water.
When To Use The Texas Eye Jig Head
Use the Texas Eye Jig Head when bouncing on the bottom or doing a twitch, twitch, pause retrieve.
It does a great job of shooting down to the bottom quickly while also keeping your bait weedless.
I tend to use these a lot when fishing around oyster bars, bouncing on the bottom for flounder, or fishing in deeper water.
Both the Owner Weighted Twistlock Hooks and the Texas Eye Jig Heads work great for scenarios when you need a weedless setup.
But the Owner Hooks tend to work better with a constant retrieve.
And the Texas Eye Jig Heads are more effective when working your lure on the bottom.
Have you used both of these weedless setups?
