On this trip, I was out fishing a flat with some oyster bars when I came across a school of fish.
There was nothing small about these fish – they were BULL redfish for sure.
I was throwing our NEW Mulligan Paddletail in the Slam Shady color rigged on a 1/8 oz. Hoss Football Jighead.

But to be honest with you, it did take a little while for me to figure out where those fish were holding.
However, once I found the fish the rest was easy.
The truth is, I found the 90/10 Zone where 90% of the feeding fish are in 10% of the water.
The “10%” zone in this case was the isolated oyster beds away from shore in the middle of the flats.
The first two hours of this trip I spent fishing oyster beds right up along the shorelines.
But it was not until on the way back that I threw a few casts around isolated oysters further out.
From there, I bounced from oyster bed to oyster bed looking for fish, and had lots of luck this way.
That is the 90/10 Fishing Rule.
I was able to eliminate 90% of the water and focus all my attention on areas with feeding fish.
