I recently used Smart Fishing Spots to find loads of flounder and schools of redfish and black drum.

The best part about it is the entire pre-trip plan took less than a few minutes to put together.

On other map apps and software, you are restricted to the one satellite view it provides.

But it can be difficult to actually see ledges or bottom contour structure off only satellite images.

Smart Fishing Spots has Marine Charts, Sonar Charts, as well as a 3-D Shaded Relief Layer that is in other words an underwater view of your fishing spots.

You have the ability to see exactly where you want to fish before you get out on the water.

Moreover, you can also pin your location when out on the water and save it for later trips.

The major game-changer with this app is the 3-D Shaded Relief Layers that show you all of the bottom contour structure for an area.

When targeting flounder, I had a good idea even before getting to the spot I marked on the map of where the flounder would be set up to feed.

It was mind-blowing going out to a completely new area and slamming fish just based on what I saw on Smart Fishing Spots.

If I had fished it before Smart Fishing Spots, I would have to fish it multiple times to learn the spot because I’d be going in blind.

Conclusion

this tackle mistake helped me catch more flounder

Smart Fishing Spots gives you exactly what you need to go out and fish a brand new spot completely blind and you will still catch fish.

I know you know what your doing Wyatt but being an old salty retired navy dog like me who does everything the old school way has difficulty trying to relate to all this crazy fast new technology that’s on the market now its hard to catch up I have had the app now since it was first put on saltstrong but have yet to use it in fact today I’m getting a recall problem taken care of at my Toyota dealer and decided to try and search for an area that I frequently fish and although it says it on the search area of the app when I hit search all that comes up is the city and area around the spot but no water its in a state park and pat olgaltree did a spot dissection on it for me a great spot that has minimal fishing pressure that I get to fish for free because of my retired veteran status but it has tricky and fast tides that on an out going gets low very fast but is well worth the effort to fish it its called faver dykes state park located in Flagler County Florida no seagrass pursay but plenty of oyster bars and some mangroves that I have yet to fish its the most northern spot in Florida in fact that has mangroves in it and some big snook as well in fact this past Sat I and my girlfriend fished it and got stuck because I used the wrong tide but in the process I hooked and lost my very first snook on a spook Jr I now can see why so many anglers pursue them they hit like a freight train and fight like a lion but anyways I hope to find more ways on how to use the new app when I read pats post on how to use the app for finding new spots I noticed he said that one needs to be at the spot and then the GPS will kick in and find the spots in the area but your post says you can find them without being on the water and that’s what I have been trying to do with no luck very frustrating I guess I’ll have to watch the tutorial again a few times more then maybe hopefully I’ll catch on don’t want to be left out if I can help it thanks for the info and all you do😉

Fishing the rivers off the Pamlico sound this app is a game changer. I have gained more info in one evening of studying the marine charts with shaded relief than I would have learned in an entire summer of riding around looking at my sonar. The ability to pin a new area on my phone app then pin the same spot on my fish finder will save me untold hours. I can ride one spot to another and put together a plan A thru plan D.
