I was out filming an Insider Report in search of redfish, but I was looking in all the wrong places.
That is until I noticed what was causing the trends to slightly change.

To target and catch more redfish, you first have to understand their behavior and feeding patterns.
Redfish want to be in the shallows because that is where the bait is.
They are designed to belly-crawl into shallow areas and feed.
A common mistake people make is thinking they have to find deeper water to target redfish, which is not the case.
If there is enough water close to the shore when the tide is out, those fish will stay there.
On the flip side, redfish venture out into feeder creeks and mangrove lines that overflow with the high tide.
The fish will push up as far as they can into these areas on a high tide.
On top of that, the fish will hang around and continue to feed if there is still water in the creeks.
As long as there are a few inches of water on low tide, those redfish will still be there.
Redfish will capitalize on any and all water pushed up against shorelines, mangroves, or grass.
Usually, if there is not enough water for them to hang around, the fish will stage right at the mouths of these creeks.
Conclusion
It really comes down to the water level and if redfish are able to push as far up against shorelines as they want.
Low tide presents amazing redfish fishing opportunities but it is all about knowing the current trends and staying in tune with redfish behaviors when you are out on the water.
Remember that these fish want to feed in shallow water!!!

Well I guess the old saying isn’t true after all because this old dog just learned a new trick I guess I was thinking like alot of anglers do and thought that one had to look for deeper water as soon as the tide was low I really never stayed in an area after the tide went out and tried fishing it for reds but now I will thanks Tony again for your unsurpassed knowledge of inshore saltwater fishing you truelly are the guru of mosquito lagoon😉👍
