Uncovering Current Fall Redfish Trends [Fishing Report]

Coach Matt Lanier and I had the chance to hit the water on a picture-perfect fall day to pick up on current fall redfish trends.
If you haven’t felt it yet, outside temperatures are slowly falling.
Redfish are schooling up and packing on the calories.
Here’s how you can find and catch more redfish in the fall!

Lures That Caught Fish:
The weather has been a bit unpredictable lately making some days simply unfishable.
But I was fortunate enough to link up with Coach Matt Lanier over in Big Bend and we found some decent redfish.
Our plan was to fish topwater lures, Wake Baits, and paddletails or swimbaits to see what trends we’d pick up on.
After reeling in a few redfish each, there was a clear trend and a lure that made it all possible.
The BOMBER was the ticket!
Matt was crushing it with the F.R.E.D. BOMBER while I was using the Slam Shady BOMBER.
The cooler weather has fired these fish up to aggressively hunt down bigger bait for high-calorie meals.
We focused on fishing high-percentage zones like points and similar structure.
Simply throw the BOMBER out there and roll it slowly back to you over oyster bars and around points.
The fish began to school up while we were catching them which meant we had to back off for a bit after reeling one in so as not to completely blow out the school.
Conclusion
You’ve got to have BOMBER lures out there on the water with you every single trip this fall.
Right now, redfish are targeting the bigger finfish so they can pack on the calories in time for winter.
Big mullet and big redfish go hand in hand so be on the lookout for big finfish in the area.
