Today was Scott’s last day, and we really hated seeing this guy go.
Scott is not only one incredible and stand up dude, he is one persistent guy as well.
This final day was originally planned for his travel back to Texas and letting him sleep in…
But Scott had other plans.
On Day 1 he caught his monster snook (watch that here)
On Day 2 he caught grouper and some HUGE Trout (watch that here)
And on Day 3 he caught more snook and trout (watch that here)
But the one thing that he had not caught yet was a Redfish.
So on this final morning, Scott was up bright and early ready to take one last stab at catching his elusive redfish.
As you can see in the video, it was a crazy morning with really thick fog rolling in across the island.
Not to mention, the temperature had dropped at least 12 degrees (not good for fishing inshore as these fish hate cold water and in many cases shut down briefly during cold fronts).
But Scott was determined and so was team Salt Strong…
However, after a few missed small catches (including Scott’s first mangrove snapper) and a few missed bites, we finally had to pack it in and get Scott off to the airport.
The only good news was that now we have an excuse to get our man Scott back for another trip.
After Scott’s departure, it stayed overcast until well after lunch and then the sun finally broke free.
That gave us just enough time to catch some big snook, for Luke to hook up with a monster snook under our neighbor’s dock, and even get our camera/promoter Andrew on his first ever snook.
Good times and we will never forget our amazing experience with Scott Lilley.
