2 questions:

1. How do I join the group
2. is beach fishing the central west coast of FL any good/ worthwhile? All the tackle shops in Tampa area say no, it’s only good on the FL east coast and panhandle to Texas. Is that true?

I surf fish on the west central coast of Florida. I’m in Sarasota County. I consistently catch whiting, sea trout, jacks, pompanos, flounder, bluefish, black drum, red drum, snook, shark etc, etc, etc. I hit the beach just about every weekend and hit fish every time.

Not sure how it will shake out, but this needs to be expanded beyond the Panhandle. Florida’s East Coast and the Outer Banks surf fishing come directly to mind. Looking forward to see how this develops…

So excited about this. I have just started surf fishing and want to learn all I can so that I can spend time with my (9) grandchildren when possible. Matthew is a great guy and look forward to being involved in this. Thank you Joe and Luke.

Love this idea. I started with surf fishing, now I also do a bit of kayak fishing (not as well), and shore fishing too.

I do think surf fishing is significantly different from shore fishing though, and think two groups would be best there. I would join both groups of course, but when its pompano time on the east coast its good to know.

There are some regional differences with atlantic vs. gulf, migratory patterns with pompano, too. But it is great to have an area to go for surf fishing, this is great!

Possible name if group expands to fishing from shore is “Angler on Foot.” I think Larry Finch and or others may already use this name but I don’t think it’s exclusive.

Would like to have Bama Beach Bum set up weekday excursions from his area. Hotel, gear and bait included – say 3 days of fishing – day and evening possibly?

Riding on that suggestion I would like to BBB set up excursions in Corpus , Padre, or Galveston!!!

How about just a group who fish from shore and not just surf. I know there are many inshore fishermen who do not have boats, and just have to find spots they can reach by driving around and finding them on there own Thnks for your fantastic club.

Absolutely agree with Stuart Simon comment! I bet there there more shore fishermen or surf fishing (me) dont have a boat and dont plant to have one. However, I drive for 1-2 hours along the pacific cost trying new spots.
