This is just a small snippet of action from an entire course packed with detailed beach fishing advice.
Using the #1 beach fishing rig we mentioned last week, we had a lights-out day crushing pompano!
After placing out our bait and getting a strike, we learned a few things.
We know what depth this fish was running because we knew where we put our baits.
Now, we can throw a bait back out in the same spot to detect a pattern of how the fish are feeding.
Pompano usually move around in very large schools so you more often than not will hook into pompano in quick succession.
After we picked up on a bit of a pattern, we decided to move our baits slightly closer to the sand bar where the bites were coming from.
While fishing for pompano, we always have other rigs out and we also got some whiting to bite!
They are a great cut bait to use for surf fishing but sometimes can be too big to use as bait.

At the end of the video, I see that beach Bum is using a bullet shaped float on his Pompano rig that is painted with a “fish scale” pattern. Where can you get these floats on-line? Thanks, Jeff
I see that in some of your videos you use a Penn reel. Is it the Penn Slammer? If so is it a good all around inshore reel? Great videos, thank you…John
Yes, it’s a Penn Slammer. It’s good for big game or beach fishing, but it’d definitley be a bit overpowered for most inshore applications, as it’s quite heavy and beefy for casting lures all day.
Great video..did not pick up what you were using for bait. Also, do you use some type of float material to keep the bait off the bottom?
