Can you imagine catching over 300,000 snook in your life?

That is mind-blowing!

But with over 45 years of snook fishing, that’s exactly what Capt. Dave Pomerleau, aka the “Mad Snooker,” has accomplished.

This is a value-packed episode where he’s sharing tips like:

  • The biggest mistakes snook anglers make (that you’re probably making yourself)
  • How to hook shrimp for monster snook (and when and where to use them)
  • The best tides for catching snook during each season
  • How to land, handle, and release snook so they can grow and reproduce (and so you catch them again when they’re bigger)
  • Why he only fishes for snook at night
  • How to catch 40+ lb snook (he’s caught three of them!)

300,000? That’s 18 fish a day fishing every single day for 45 years. No Way! I’m sure you’re a great fisherman but No Way! Pack story.

No, it’s more like 40 to 60 Snook every trip with many nights being over 100 and I’ll find you 100 people that will verify that. I average 8 to 9000 Snook landed a year.

Darlene cooked over 400 in just 4 nights with me and landed 308

Trust me, I wish it wasn’t true. I’ve been Snook Fishing now for 53 years and I don’t wanna think about what I gave up to fish as many nights as I do. Countless ruined relationships and I never sleep at night. I literally go Snook fishing 250 nights a year minimum and most nights we catch 50 to 60 of them with many nights being way over 100. I don’t know how to do another damn thing. So in life, I’m pretty much a complete mess with a lot of anxiety and the only way I can cope with it is to go fishing. So I just fish all the time to stay distracted. I’m standing on a bridge right now casting flare Hawks. I’ve already caught 21 and I’m completely allergic to them. I just let them all go so I hope hopefully they can catch them again when they’re much much bigger.
Yeah, trust me I get it. The numbers sound crazy but they’re not made up and I wish they were. I didn’t even see these comments until tonight when I was listening to the podcast on the bridge here. I’m not looking to sound like an egomaniac. Trust me II’m not looking to sound like an egomaniac. Trust me I have no ego I can catch Snook on my sleep, but what was the cost? If I could go back and do it all over I don’t think I would. If I’m not running a Charter, I spend 80% of my time alone and it sucks
