Sidekick Rig: A Unique Tandem Rig Setup for More Strikes
- By: Luke Simonds

What if I told you there’s a way to fish two lures at the same time—and it’s actually making fish go nuts?
This isn’t your typical tandem rig. Instead of one lure trailing behind the other, this setup has them swimming side by side just like real baitfish… and the strikes have been INSANE!

I put this rig to the test and was shocked by the results. The way the lures dart around together mimics real baitfish better than anything I’ve seen—and the fish CRUSHED IT.

Love it. Thanks Luke
Used this type rig for over 40 years fluke(flounder) fishing up north.
Started off with different size and color bucktails. Then switched to soft plastics . Pretty much any combination works. Just have to find the one that works where you fish.
Thanks for sharing the helpful info.
Other than Polk County Tweaker, is it advisable to pair it up with a fluke like the Leprachan or would that look like different species running together? …….also fwiw, I recently bought your Ande Leader as an impulse purchase predicated by this Side Kick video. Heck, I have not even been fishing in months owing to other priorities. Reminding myself to renew my license and probably add a fresh water stamp. (California).
sometimes the different colors of lures will draw more attention from a variety of species so this will provoke more strikes. That has been my experience with the tandem.
Thanks, guess I will simply have to try and see.
Great rig can’t wait to try!
cant wait to try this and catch two hardheads on the same cast! haha
Love the donkey rig when offshore, but the sidekick is going to be my new rig for tandem baits. The Alberto knot is my go to but nvr thought of the backend weave with half hitches. Will also try this when flounder fishing with chartruese tail shrimp when I go to Louisiana. THANKS
Oh thank, you thank, you thank you, This look like a kill set-up. I cant wait to use it.
This looks like a great way to catch ALL the fish. Can’t wait to try it.
