Are you where you dreamed you’d be right now?
I vividly remember having dinner with an older couple in Jacksonville back in 2004.
From the outside looking in, they seemed to have it all…
Nice cars, a beautiful home right on the golf course, and one of the largest closets I’d ever seen (loaded with $100,000+ of fancy clothes).
But after a few glasses of wine, the wife said to me, “This isn’t anything like I dreamed it would be back when I was in my 20’s…”
I was confused. They seemed to have everything.
She went on to say, “We spent 30 years consumed with just trying to make money and to keep upgrading our stuff all while working jobs we hated… but what is worse is that we neglected our relationships with kids, family, church, and God… we never followed our passions or what we felt like we were called to do… it was all about the money… I wish I could do it all over again a different way…”
Her comments stuck with me ever since, and it was one of many reasons I pursued working for a fishing company like Salt Strong where I could pursue my dreams and love every minute of what I do on a day to day basis (where it never feels like work).
So back to my question earlier…
