Mirrolure Top Dog Jr. Best bass and Pike walk-the-dog lure I have found. Discovered it fishing it in the gulf. Brought it back to Wisconsin.
What are your thoughts about using the Dr. Juice on the soft plastics? I normally use Baitmate Fish Attractant for freshwater. It has Anise among other fragrances. I didn’t know if anyone has tried the Dr. Juice or if you think it is more formulated for saltwater.
Hey guys! Great, informative podcast! I realize this is a bit of a more specialized question but my fiancé and I are hitting a few national parks out west for our honeymoon next year and I wanted to chance some of the brook trout that inhabit the high altitude (8000 ft plus) glacial lakes. What lures would you possibly recommend? I’m not much of a fly fisherman so any help here would be appreciated!
Also, contrary to popular belief, there are small freshwater shrimp that inhabit ponds and lakes down here in FL! I used to hand net them out of the grasses to feed my fish in my freshwater tank for a free, nutritious feed! Very important part of the food chain for juvenile bass and panfish. Thanks guys!
Those freshwater shrimp are great bait to catch monster bream.
I’m definitely a bigger fan of saltwater fishing but I’ve grown up with about a 2 & 1/2 acre pond in my back yard. Like Justin, I’ve been testing all my lures in the pond. I’ve caught a 4lb bass with the power prawn but my go to pond lures are the Slam Shady Bomber, Alabama Leprechaun, and the Zoom Horney Toad. Awesome lures no matter how much or little salinity content is in the water!
In California, I have great success with my favorite salt water surf lure. Lucky Craft Flash minnow 110. It so versatile as jerk bait and swimbait. In Cali surf it works great for Halibut , Sea Bass. Monster Surf Perch. In freshwater water , I have caught many Bass freshwater species.
This lure is crazy, I caught Carp with it. I hook him in the Fins. The super glow sardine destroys at night.

I summer in Wisconsin and often fish the UP. For top water bass fishing the Zman finesse frogs in green is a killer. Last trip landed a 22” large mouth and lost count on how many I caught over 14 inches. It is my go to top water rigged weedless just like the slam shady without the weighted hook.
what about the gold digger paddle tail. I thought about buying it just for bass fishing. Surprised it wasn’t brought up when talking about slam shady. Plus it’s that darker color we’re told to use for freshwater fishing.
You’re right, Chris. Gold Digger should kill it. The only reason we didn’t mention it is that it’s so new that we haven’t caught a ton of bass with it yet (we tried to only discuss lures that we’ve been using for quite some time with consistent results). But I’d bet if we do another topic like this in a year from now the Gold Digger will be up there for sure!
For top water bass I’ve had luck with the red/white Zara Spook.
As an inshore fanatic that (sadly) lives right in the middle of country, this is 100% the content I needed
