How To Adjust Jighead Barbs So They Don’t Destroy Your Lures

Here’s a quick way to adjust jighead barbs so they don’t destroy your lures!

Some jigheads have big invasive barbs that tear right through the plastic of most lures.

Then you don’t get much use out of a lure before having to replace it.

Let me show you how to avoid this!!

Featured Gear:

After you catch a few fish or make a bunch of casts, your soft plastic lures tend to slide down the hook.

The barbs on the collar of the jigheads you use will tear right through the head of your lures.

Before rigging soft plastic lures on any jighead, you need to consider the size of everything.

You want to match the RIGHT jighead to the RIGHT lure size.

If you’re forced to mismatch lures and jigheads, you can break the barbs off and your lures will still hold.

Using a pair of pliers or an old pair of scissors, break the bottom barb off the jighead.

Rig your lures up as normal and they won’t go anywhere.

If you want, you can add a tiny drop of super glue to the jighead to keep the lure in place.

Tony,
Good tips on the jig barb tips! Been there & wish I had tried that!
In addition, I would also mention the Salt Strong tip of giving your lure a 90* turn just before going over the jig head barbs, pushing on up and turning back to straight – to lock the lure in. This 1 tip has really extended the life of my lures!
