Best Fishing Tips Of The Week: Salt Strong Newsletter (June 23, 2019)

Its officially summertime!

Friday was the first “official” day of summer, although down here in Florida it feels like we’re a few months into the season already.

And since this is the first newsletter of the “summer” I’ll kick it off by reminding you of the summer trends to follow if you want to catch more fish.

Here’s the most important thing: look for cooler water.

Warmer water has less oxygen, which means fish need to find cooler water with more oxygen.

Here’s where you’ll find that:

• Deeper water (water deeper than three feet or so is not affected as much by the warming sunlight)
• Moving water (current brings more oxygen through a fish’s gills)
• Grass flats (grass releases oxygen into the water)
• Waves and wind facing shorelines (waves and wind bring more oxygen into the water)
• Water is coolest in the early morning since it’s been cooling off all night, so this is the best time to fish
