Spot selection and having the right type of gear will directly help you catch more fish this fall.
Due to the recent cold snap, Justin and I started fishing in a wind-protected creek.
We slowly bounced some lures into the deeper pockets below and worked lures along mangrove lines.
Not much was going on until I hooked into a small snook.
After that fish was released, I started working the Power Prawn USA Junior in the Gold Digger color right along the mangroves.
Shortly after, I got the first trout of the day followed by a smaller redfish to complete the inshore slam!
We kept bouncing the Power Prawn USA Junior shrimp lure along the bottom near mangroves in about 3-4 feet of water.
Later in the day, we began to fish an area we had seen lots of birds diving on schools of bait.
As we moved down the shoreline, we could see dozens of tarpon rolling on the surface.
My objective then was to cast wherever I saw a tarpon boil which in many cases can trigger a strike.
The straight glide retrieve with the Power Prawn USA Junior has been irresistible to these tarpon lately.
Equipment Analysis
The Power Prawn USA Junior in the Gold Digger color is a must-have lure for fishing in the colder months.
As baitfish get moved out of backwater estuaries, crustaceans become the primary source of food for inshore fish.
I was also using the Cashion Element Series fishing rod that is yet to hit the market.
As far as the reel goes, I had the Daiwa Legalis paired up to this rod.
The Legalis is a $69 reel that packs a punch and handles all types of inshore fish.
I put 10lb braid on this reel and tipped it with a 20lb Ande Monofilament leader.
Light tackle set-ups like this are perfect for fishing in the colder months.
The fish are lethargic and a lightweight outfit with strength and quality is exactly what you need!
Conclusion
The tarpon consistently strike the Power Prawn USA Junior in the Gold Digger color on a simple, straight retrieve.
As temperatures fall, make sure you’re up to date with current trends and geared up and ready.
Head over and grab a pack of the Power Prawn USA Junior lures in time for fall and winter!

That was a great day!
Sure would be nice if all species always cooperated… but I guess that would take the added fun out of it when it all comes together.
Nice video, Luke! Looks like a lot of fun!
Thanks Mark!

Thanks Bobby!
Been having the most amazing luck with these lures w a weighted hook. Thanks
Glad to see that you’re enjoying these lures too.
Great catch. Says a lot about the Legalis 2500 when you pair it with a good rod.
I have really been impressed with that reel… I even find myself using it with my $300+ rods.
Awesome video thank you so much for sharing
Thanks for making time to post the nice comment Gary!
Helpful video. What was the water temperature and tide action?
Thanks James! I don’t ever check the temp gauge anymore… I just target zones that are likely going to be a fraction of a degree warmer than everywhere else in that area, and that wind protected cove with mud bottom was the obvious choice.
The tide was falling from a very high tide when we were fishing.
Thanks for the info Luke.
