It is getting HOT out there and bait is all over the place.

I set out on this trip with a little experiment in mind: how will Mulligan Lure color impact the bite?

The first lure I tied on was the Gold Digger Mulligan with some Dr. Juice Saltwater Slam Scent added.

I tried casting to a few grass lines on my way over to a small spoil island that usually holds a fish or two.

So I threw my lure out where I saw bait jumping and within a few cranks, I was on a redfish!

Summertime marsh redfish are so fun to target and catch.

The first fish of the day was on the Gold Digger Mulligan.

Right after releasing that fish, I switched over to the Slam Shady Mulligan.

I went back to cast near the same spot I caught the first fish.

A couple of casts later and I hooked into another solid redfish.

A short time after the second fish, my GoPro overheated so I didn’t capture the third fish I caught on video.

At this point in the day, I caught 2 fish on the Gold Digger and 1 on the Slam Shady Mulligan.

The fourth and final fish of the day came a bit later as I was fishing around a point.

A smaller drum came up and smacked the Slam Shady Mulligan to even up the score at 2-2.

Color can make a difference under specific conditions and in certain situations but as this trip goes to show, you have to be in the right spot with feeding fish.

This is what we do at Salt Strong.

We help YOU find the feeding fish in LESS time while saving MONEY.

Thanks Evan. Great experiment. How much do you think the overcast, combined with the tea stained water made a difference? Salt Strong! Thomas

Yea I do agree that when the fish are very aggressive color doesn’t matter as much but I do believe that some colors work better in dirty or murky water then others because I believe they see it better only if the water is crystal clear would I believe color would make a big impact on one’s catch rate because obviously then the fish can see everything and I know where im at as well as your area or areas because I know that all along the southern eastern Atlantic seaboard the water is primarily murky or dirty and where im at is no exception I live and fish in jacksonville fl and unless its in the dead of winter or very early spring the water here is about at least 90 percent of the time murky and I have found that chartruse and gold colors are real catchers and attention getters around here about 95 percent of the time im fishing with one or more of these colors in our warmer months and they have produced for me year after year so unless something changes dramatically I’ll keep using what works for me thanks for the info and all you do👍😉

Nice Video Evan! Some nice Reds! I was hoping you were going to “paint the Tail” with a Chartreuse color for testing. Maybe next time
