Is there an easy way to rig Z-Man Lures on jigheads?
If you are struggling to properly rig up Z-Man soft plastic lures on jigheads, then here is the solution!
We’ve got it covered right here!
Rig Z-Man Lures On Jigheads
For this demonstration, we will be rigging a 3-inch Z-Man Slam Shady MinnowZ Paddletail on a Z-Man Trout Eye Jighead weighing 1/8 oz.
Due to the material Z-Man soft plastic lures are made out of, it creates a slight challenge to properly rig them up on jigheads.
To begin, start as you normally would rig up any soft plastic lure by sliding the hook point into the top of the lure.
Make sure the hook point is centered in the lure.
Then, expose the hook point out of the lure and continue sliding the lure onto the hook shank.
Once you reach the barbs it can be tricky.
Next, grab the shank of the hook itself with one hand and the soft plastic with the other.
With some force, pull the soft plastic up and over the barbs of the jighead almost as if you are trying to pull the soft plastic over the entire head of the jighead.
Finally, you can let go and the lure will rest in its place.
To have even more security, squeeze the lure right behind the barbs and pinch the plastic.
While still pinching the soft plastic, slide the lure up towards the head and pinch even more to dig the barbs into the plastic.

My pleasure Andy!
Don’t be afraid to be aggressive with the Zman baits when rigging them up. The last thing they will do is break!
Thanks for the tips Tony I have not been using Zman because of the hassle of rigging effectively. Thanks I will try them again
My pleasure Terry!
great tip Tony. when I first used Zman plastics I had a heck of a time getting them on. I almost gave up on them lol. pull n pinch! sometimes I use a drop of super glue, but I noticed on the laminate colors, like Mulletron and Redbone, the glue seemed to cause a reaction and separate the two colors causing a split at the jighead. I wonder, has anyone else run into that problem?
Thanks Kenneth!
Very interesting! I haven’t used superglue much with them so haven’t really experienced any issues like that.
Great tip Tony thank again for the good information.
You’re welcome David!
