This reel has what 13 Fishing calls “CZB” bearings.

CZB is a custom bearing of an advanced polymer.

The TX 2 Baitcasting Reel has 13 Fishing’s highest grade CZB bearings which are called CZB Comp.

CZB Comp is a one-piece advanced polymer bearing with a machine-engineered pattern on the inside to reduce as much friction as possible in an effort to maximize castability.

CZB Comp bearings are ZERO corrosion bearings which are what sets it apart from other saltwater baitcasting reels.

You do not have to worry about a traditional bearing wearing out with this reel.

Along with CZB Comp bearings, the reel also has a zero-corrosion cast iron carbon frame and side plate.

This product was carefully designed to prevent electrolysis as well as saltwater contamination.

Texas Anglers

Saltwater anglers in Texas that also like to wade fish using a baitcasting reel are choosing the TX 2.

The TX designation is in recognition of the fishery in Texas.

13 Fishing wanted to create a low-profile reel with the strength to reel in fish in that environment.

Moreover, there are 25lbs of drag in this baitcasting reel while other baitcasting reels usually have 12-15lbs of drag.

Bonus Audio Feature

13 Fishing designed one of the few baitcasting reels on the market with an audible drag system.

The sound of a fish screaming drag off a spinning reel is just the same on the TX 2 baitcasting reel.

You’ll hear the clicking when a fish takes off on a run just like you would with a spinning reel.

Conclusion

Justin…I like to fish 8-10braid and throw 1/8oz-1/4oz lures at least 80% of the time. Can this reel handle line and lures this light? Thx

I jumped the gun and bought one off of Amazon a few months ago and then paired it with a Henri Rods Custom 6’6 ML Jay Watkins model rod. Haven’t had a chance to take it out yet to see how it performs.

Crazy! I fished the deep waters of the Great Lakes almost 70 years and transitioned into fishing shallow inshore waters.. not easy. I fished with bait casters for all those years then transitioned to spinning reels. You would think it would be easy, well it wasn’t. Now I find out I could have stayed with casting reels!

Ok, I’am interested. Do a test video, put it on a medium or medium light rod with 20lbs braid and a 3/16th oz jig with a plastic bait and test it. Not interested in distance more cast ability and accuracy. Have a Tranx 150 that I’am very impressed with for right at the same price and would love to see a comparison.

I I have been using the concept 13 Texas edition generation 1 reel since it first came out for five years ago it is the best Reel I have ever owned I used to be a Shimano user but have since switched exclusively to concept 13. The real is Very durable and easy to maintain. I encourage anybody who uses a bait casting reel to consider investing in this one it is the best

What rods do you have them on and what baits are you throwing with them? Looking for a bait caster I can pair with a medium light rod that has a slower gear ratio for fishing plastics and mirrolures slow for cold water winter trout.

I took a baitcaster out a few times. Spent more time untying knots than fishing. Last knot I got has been sitting in my reel for about 3 years now. How do you learn to cast these things?

Put your lure on push the button and adjust the tension of the line to were the lure barley falls. When you throw it make sure you are letting your finger bump the spool until you are comfortable with it. When you get better fine tune the reel with less tension for better cast. Watch the lure through the air as well right before it hits the water bump your thumb on the reel. I harass Wyatt because he can’t cast one ether. He won’t throw mine, says he will bird nest that dude. lol

In your yard is where you need To start use lightweight 3/8oz your spool tensioner down To wear when you drop the weight to the ground and it hits it should start then tried to throw

What is the price point for the Concept TX2 baitcasting reel?

I would love to see 13 Fishing do some magnetic cast controls! I’ve been looking at the Daiwa Lexa-WN 300 because of it’s features.

Good feedback! I’ll keep putting the bug in Matt’s ear next time I chat with him to see what their reasoning is.

Nice review Justin! One question… the guy did mention the new CZB Comp bearing on the spool. However, just wondering about the anti-reverse/roller clutch bearing… is there a traditional one or something new that is corrosion resistant or zero corrosion?

Great question, Gavin. They list their AR/Clutch Bearing as being a “Dead Stop” Bearing, which is more than likely a high-quality Minebea brand bearing made overseas in Japan (one of the best in the industry).

Thanks Justin! Yeah… I saw that but wasn’t 100% sure what their “Dead Stop Bearing” was. Thanks again!
