Previously, lots of us would thread the lure onto the centering pin and line the hook up next to the lure and use our thumb to mark the point at which the hook will slide through the soft plastic.

But this shortcut is even easier than that and you can even do it without looking.

Most soft plastic lures have an underbelly slot that is critical for this hack to work.

That underbelly slot also helps with the hook-up ratio especially when fishing with weighted weedless hooks.

Once you’ve fed the lure onto the centering pin, place the hook in the belly of the lure.

There you’ll be able to see where the hook naturally falls into the lure.

Take your thumb and forefinger and pinch the hook there with the soft plastic.

Then, turn roughly 90 degrees and insert the hook point into the soft plastic.

The fact that it was already lined up in the underbelly means the hook will come out of the dead center and be perfectly aligned.

This is the best method to perfectly rig your soft plastic lures on weighted hooks just about every single time.

This same approach applies to all of our soft plastic lures like the Power Prawn USA or the Mulligan because they have that belly cut out on the bottom of the lure.

You should always use weighted hooks as well with soft plastic lures that have that underbelly cut out.

Additionally, you can go ahead and barely skin hook the hook point to go fully weedless.
