Negative Tide Strategies
If you are targeting big redfish on the flats during a negative tide, it is best to patrol the outside of a flat looking for fish.
All the fish that are normally on the flat have nowhere else to go because of the drastic decrease in water level.
Incoming or outgoing tide won’t make much of a difference.
However, incoming tide may have a slight advantage because the fish are less worried about getting stuck.
Remember to be extra careful navigating if you are on a boat because of the changes in water depth.
Kayaks are advantageous for fishing negative tides because you can access deeper pools that are secluded and inaccessible by boat.
Negative tides also allow you to investigate the topography in your area and become familiar with the bottom contours.
Try your best not to miss a negative tide both for a fantastic fishing opportunity and to gain knowledge of your area!

I had a negative tide on Monday’s trip to Palma Sola Bay. I found success by targeting deeper areas on a grass flat, it was basically a slightly deeper depression directly adjacent to the flat. The bait and the fish were stacked in there like fish is a barrel
