How To Catch Sheepshead In Residential Canals (Using Artificial Lures)

http://sheepshead%20on%20crusty%20crab

If you want a quick and easy way to catch sheepshead, then you’re going to love this.

The weather was rough as a cold front was rolling in, but Luke and I committed to doing a podcast this day, so we had to change up our plans.

We hit the canals right near Luke’s house and pitched crab lures to sheepies.

We didn’t have to crank up the big motor at all, we started fishing as soon as we got in the boat, and we didn’t have to spend time going to get live bait.

And the best news?

We came home with some delicious dinner!

Join us in this live fishing trip as we cruise around canals fishing docks.

This is one of the best ways to catch sheepies!

sheepshead on crust crab

What a fun trip!

On a tough day with bad weather, it’s great to have the opportunity to stay in the canals and catch some dinner.

You don’t need a fancy boat, any extra equipment (besides the crab lures), and you don’t need to spend a lot of money on gas.

You can get the crab lures we were using from our shop here:

When luke is on his own he’s able to give really good insight, but in this video Joseph is constantly talking with random unneeded info, which is quite annoying. Let Luke talk. I had to stop watching after a little bit so I’m sorry if my question was answered in the video.

My question is about when to set the hook with sheeps. I have a real hard time catching em so I must be doing something wrong.

My father says sheep suck the bait in, then spit it out quickly so you have to set the hook right when you feel a tap. But others say to wait for the taps to end and the pull to start before setting. Which is it? Or is it more complicated than that?

Does it depend on the bait? The size is the fish? Other?

Any help would be appreciated!

Nice video as usual. Quick question; If you don’t have a trolling motor can you use your regular engine to keep moving or will the noise spook the fish? Thanks and tight lines!

You should not talk over the other guy as he’s speaking. Rude and annoying. I was listening to him and I will listen to you. Take your turn!!! It will make a more enjoyable video. Let Cody talk. HE sounds like the expert where you are.

have enjoyed many of your live fishing videos, great stuff. And fine camera work by Cody. You guys always ask him for different shots, and he does it. I believe it is time for one of you to grab the camera, turn it around, and let Cody have his moment in the sun! Lets see the man Cody. LOL
