I’d die if I got to fish water that clear. Good stuff gents…. DanFromSavannah

Would you conclude that they were Super spooky because of the water clarity was so clear and not a cloud in the sky? On days like this I love to be out there but I don’t catch that much. This is what I’m trying to correct. Thoughts?

Hello gents, curious as to why you used mono. Is it to help keep the lure higher up in the shallow water? My, very basic, thinking tells me that fluorocarbon might be harder for the, easily-spooked, fish to see. Thank you!

After seeing see how much better mono performed above fluoro on abrasion resistance on this test years ago (https://www.saltstrong.com/fishing-tip/fluorocarbon-leader-abrasion-test-vs-mono/), I spent over a year going back and forth from mono to fluoro and I couldn’t tell a difference in the amount of strikes I was getting, so I now just go with mono.

We definitely found the motherload… just wish they were less spooky. I just got a spool of 5 lb braid and some lighter mono in hopes that the thinner line helps keep them from feeling/seeing the line.

It would be interesting to see how the 5 pound test does. What leader will you use?

Do you have any way to use your phone to check your real time position relative to the area you wanted to fish after checking out the possibilities on the satellite??

You were making way too much noise talking & moving too fast with the trolling motor in that shallow bay where the reds were warming up. Many of those fish would have eaten if you were quieter.

It’s always tough to balance the need to go super slow in order to not spook with with the need to move quickly to find them while exploring unknown waters on a short trip.
