The Power Prawn USA Junior rigged on a Hoss Helix Hook is the go-to presentation for targeting tripletail.
All you need to do is find a channel marker or a buoy near a moving current.
Toss this lure on either side and if there is a tripletail on that channel marker, it will eat it.
This has quickly become my most trusted method for catching quality tripletail.
Tripletail absolutely love the Power Prawn USA Junior lures, they simply can’t get enough!
All of the gear mentioned above is available in our online tackle shop!

Do you let the lure sink to the bottom, or is the bite more mid water column or near the surface. In the video I do not see you leaving the bail open for the lure to drop down vertical near the channel marker piling.
Tripletail can be holding towards the top, middle, or bottom of pilings, so it’s smart to do multiple passes at different depths. They are holding mid-column this day, so I was letting the lure get down about 5 ft.
Awesome. Thanks
I’ll keep working them but have yet to catch anything on the USA power prawn jr or regular but last year on the Brazilian jr I did catch 1 nice trout but as far as tripletail I only caught 1 by a crab trap bouey a couple years ago on the jelly colored chasebaits flick prawn and while he or she was no giant only about 25 inches and about 5 lbs it did fight hard and was great eating as expected thanks for the info and all you do👍😉
Please keep me posted with how you do as you continue to try them out.

My pleasure Jerry!
Can’t wait to try this next tip. I have never caught a triple tail.
I hope you catch some nice ones
I can tell you as well they love the slam shady too . We caught six blind casting around oyster beds as we fished for trout and reds in May
How cool that you have been catching so many tripletail on the slam shady too!
22 incher on a Slam Shady, this was in a Naval base restricted area but this fish had two broken small hooks in it’s jaw, a testament to release or breaking off.
Nice work on the 22 incher! They sure do fight hard when they get that big.
What size jig, 3/0? 4/0?
For the Power Prawn USA Jr (which is what I was using in this video), I go with the 2/0 Hoss Football jighead with 1/4 oz of weight. Here’s a link: https://fishstrong.com/collections/saltwater-hooks/products/hoss-football-jighead?variant=43052103336110
There is no doubt about that Luke, I caught plenty of them with the Power Prawn junior in the last 2 months…
Glad to see that you’ve been getting into some fun tripletail catching too
