Was just at Port Saint Joseph fishing Eagle Harbor about 300 yards off shore water temp was 93degrees in 4-6 feet of water. A lot of grass and there are depth changes there on the edge. 2 years ago we caught plenty of trout there and I heard big reds strolled in at some point. This year it wasn’t very good. How deep do Red Fish stay in July?
Hey Luke, nice meeting you last month in FL. Is the shrimp lure you poured made out of the same material as the power prawn?
So glad to have met you! The shrimp lure I poured was with plastisol. And the Brazilian Power Prawns are made from TPE material which is stronger (biggest pro) but harder to rig (biggest con).
You mentioned in the video that insiders could see location that you were fishing. How do I find that?
It’s the same area that was featured in this report: https://saltstrongdev.wpengine.com/insiders/quick-slam-tampa-bay-insider-report/
What reason were you using the shady 2.0 versus the Bomber?
We were using the 2.0 because the fish were a bit too spooky for the bomber which has a louder landing and gives off more vibration in the water.
what was crawling up Luke’s back at 47:00 ?
That was a small crab that decided to climb on me when I was holding onto the mangroves.
WOW ya got to LOVE the reds when they are on 🔥 Awesome pod cast guys. PS Joe your a hoot dude…
WOW! I just wish you guys could have had some fun catching those chunks! LOL Well done, brothers!
Thanks John! It sure was a fun time out on the water.
Looks like Luke picked up a stowaway at the 45 minute mark. Great video guys. I really enjoyed it.
It’s shocking how long that crab was on me before I felt it… and so nice of Joe to not let me know I had a giant crab on me.
you guys reference Dr Juice quite often…and of course your own brand of lures (slam shadys) …do you really find this combination superior to Gulps?
Of course, I’m NOT a fan of the cost of gulp AND the way pinfish destroy the curly tails or the shrimp legs or whatever, but they still work great on flounder and of course reds+trout.
Gulp is a great product and we sell it in our store. But they’ve never had a good paddletail (which is undeniably the best lure to cover ground and get consistent strikes anywhere there are feeding fish). We used to use the Gulp shrimp and jerk shad but when they changed the formula and the baits were getting destroyed by every pinfish bite, we became less excited about Gulp. But to answer your question, YES, I’d take a Slam Shady paddletail covered in Dr. Juice over anything else in the same category.
I concur on what Joe said… I used to rely on Gulp to catch fish. And after testing the more durable plastics with good scent like the Inshore Slam scent from Dr. Juice, I found myself catching just as many (if not more) fish while going through less lures. So I eventually got to the point where I now don’t even have any Gulps in my tackle bag.
All I can say…….SICK! Love it
Pa-POW!!! Definitely an epic day
